We are pleased to announce the registration is open for Fundamentals of Property Tax Collection Law at the UNC School of Government, on March 3 – 5, 2020 and in Room #2603. Registration begins at 8:30 am on March 3 and breakfast will be provided.

Registration: To register for this course, please visit the course webpage. The registration fee is $375.

Topics: This course focuses on the law and practice governing the collection of county and municipal property taxes. The course is designed to help new tax office employees learn the basics of tax collection while also providing a refresher for tax office veterans.

Materials: Participants will receive a course notebook in class, as well as a copy of The Machinery Act of North Carolina 2019 provided by the NC Department of Revenue. Additionally, a copy of the textbook, Fundamentals of Property Tax Collection Law in North Carolina by Chris McLaughlin is generously provided by Zacchaeus Legal Services. Participants will receive materials onsite. Last year’s agenda is available on the course page if you would like to preview the topics, though times and topics are subject to change from year to year.

Continuing education: 19.5 CPE credit hours are offered and 14 hours of NC Appraisal Board credit are offered.

Hotel: We have blocks at two hotels for this program. The last day to book and receive the rate is February 2, 2020.
